The 1969 Mustang Limited Edition 600 was only available in the Philadelphia area. This Mustang featured special badging, choice of two custom colors, a hood scoop, wheel covers, and a special tape striping. About 503 Mustang Limited Edition 600s were sold, falling short of its 600 sales goal.

Ford developed the AV-X10 Dearborn Doll Mustang for the 2009 EAA AirVenture OshKosh charity event. Starting with a 2010 Mustang GT, the AV-X10 Dearborn Doll Mustang featured a V8 modified with a 550 horsepower supercharger kit, performance handling package and an aircraft-themed instrument panel on the interior.

Available only for the 1968 model year, the Mustang Cardinal Edition was an attempt by Ford to capitalize on the Mustang's success in North Carolina and Virginia. This limited-edition Mustang was a hardtop with a 200 CID inline-six that featured a special paint: Cardinal Red or Wimbledon White.

Only available in Vista Blue, Torch Red and Performance White, the Dan Gurney Signature Edition Mustang featured a 281 cu-in engine capable of producing 465 horsepower.

The 1968 Challenger Special offered budget-conscious drivers a way to add more power and performance to the base 1968 Mustang. This package was limited to dealerships in Mississippi and featured a set of Shelby intakes and 4118 Holley carburetor.

With a design inspired by Lockheed Martin's F-35 Lightning, this 2015 Mustang GT dubbed the F-35 Lightning II Edition Mustang was auctioned off for $200,000 to help benefit the EAA's Young Eagles program. Henrik Fisker took an S550 Mustang, gave it a custom interior, ducktail spoiler, hood scoop, and a 2.9L Whipple supercharger. Available in 2009 from Saleen Automotive, for a mere $89,000, was a limited-edition Mustang variant called the Dark Horse. The Dark Horse featured a 302 cu-in engine with a Speedlab SuperShaker option capable of producing 620 horsepower. Only 25-30 of the Dark Horse variant was produced.

In 2008, there were two trim levels available for the Mustang GT convertible, Premium and Deluxe. The Deluxe was the less popular of the two but offered a host of features not available on other cars at its price point.

If you are a Yankees fan and a Mustang fan then you would really love this special Yankees edition Mustang. There were 60 Yankees edition Mustangs produced in 2005 and shipped to Ford dealers in the Tri-State area. Only one was produced in 2010 and sent to the auction block.

2005 saw the introduction of a truly "limited-edition" Mustang, available only in San Diego, CA, the San Diego Special Mustang. With only 50 models produced, the Mustang E is one of the rare early Mustangs known for fuel-efficiency. Only available as a fastback, it featured a 250ci 6-cylinder engine and no air conditioning. In can be identified by its unique badging on the rear fenders.

The Monroe Handler Mustang was built in 1977 by Monroe Shocks and Hot Rod magazine. This Mustang featured a number of improvements such as a Roush-tuned 363 CID engine capable of producing 400 horsepower and an upgraded exterior with fenders and other enhancements.

Starting in 2007 Ford showed its support for the fight against breast cancer by releasing a special-edition Mustang. The Warriors in Pink Special-Edition Mustangs have varied over the years with distinctive interior upgrades and other performance upgrades.

Raising almost $250,000 for the EAA's Young Eagles Program was the Apollo Edition Mustang. The Apollo Edition Mustang was a 2015 Mustang GT that featured a 5.0L Coyote V8 engine with a supercharger that could produce 627 horsepower and 540 ft-lbs of torque.

Found on both the 1967 Shelby GT500 and 1968 GT500KR, the 428 police interceptor engine had a 335 horsepower rating thought to be underreported. The 1968 Shelby GT500KR equipped with a police interceptor engine claimed the title of "Super Stock Eliminator Champ" at the 1968 Winternationals.

A special edition Mustang called the Indy Pace Car Mustang was produced in 1979 to celebrate the second appearance that a Mustang served as a pace car for the Indy 500. The Indy Pace Car Mustang turned out to b a surprise hit for Ford, selling over 10,000 units. Two more Pace Car Mustangs editions were produced in 2011 and 2012.

The Shelby Green Hornet is one of the rarest and most remarkable Shelby Mustangs of all time. Originally developed in 1967 as a prototype for the California Special Mustang, the Green Hornet ended up at Shelby-American where it underwent many modifications. The Green Hornet Mustang is valued at over $3 million.

The Q400, released in 2003, was Steeda's first attempt to compete with other famed Mustang customizers. The 400 in Q400 represented the horsepower the engine produced. Other notable upgrades included Bosch fuel pumps, aluminum radiator, rear spoiler and front air splitter.

The Stampede Edition Mustang was a special promotion for Texas and Oklahoma dealers in 2006 to help boost Mustang sales. 500 Stampede Edition Mustangs were produced, each with an engraved numbered plaque to verify its authenticity. The special edition featured some upgrades to the interior and exterior.

The SVO Mustang would be the only production car produced by the SVO team. In addition to establishing the turbocharged four-cylinder as a worthy engine selection for the Mustang, it also incorporated some interesting performance upgrades. Sadly, this Mustang was only produced from 1984-1986.

Ford celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Mustang in 1984 by bringing back the GT350. The limited production run Mustang featured only cosmetic upgrades such as a darker red interior, special badging and front air dam. Compared with other years the GT350 has been released, it's easy to see why this model doesn't get the same reactions.

The EAA Blue Angels Mustang was auctioned off at the 2011 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in support of the organization's Young Eagles program. Raising over $400,000 at auction, this Mustang featured a supercharged 2012 Mustang GT and was capable of producing over 500 horsepower.

Though the first Eleanor Mustang was a 1973 model, the second Eleanor was a more impressive 1967 Shelby GT500. Both Mustangs have earned their place in cinematic history. Here’s how these Mustangs were created.

One of the most famous Mustangs is the Mustang GT390 which was featured in the movie Bullitt. Driven by Steve McQueen, the GT390, also known as "Bullitt," raced through the streets of San Francisco. The GT390 featured a 390 cubic inch V8 engine and 270 horsepower.

Known as one of the rarest Mustangs ever made, only ten McLaren M81's were ever produced out of the 250 that were planned. The ones that were produced were built by hand.

The 1967 Shelby Super Snake was a one of a kind, but since then there have been Super Snake variants made through the years, including ten new 1967 versions built in 2018. From the original Super Snake to the modern ones, Shelby's legacy is clear in these outstanding performance Mustangs.

Driven by the character Red Mist in the 2010 hit movie Kick-Ass, the Red Mist Mustang started with a 2008 GT as its base. From there a custom body kit was added along with a supercharged 4.6L V8 capable of over 500 horsepower. In all over $240,000 was put into the creation of the Red Mist Mustang.

The Hurst Mustang is a tribute to Ford's racing heritage and was designed to pace the final race of the 2009 Ford Racing Mustang Challenge. The original was auctioned off in 2010 and another limited-edition run of 50 car replicas were available by special order.

Due to high tax rates and fuel prices throughout Europe, only nine Shelby Europas were ever produced to send overseas, making them exceedingly rare. Available with either a 351CID Windsor or 428 CID Cobra Jet engine, these Mach 1-based cars featured upgraded racing suspension, front and rear spoilers, and special striping with a unique Shelby Europa logo.

Steve Saleen founded Saleen Automotive in 1983, originally called Saleen Autosport. Saleen produces modified versions of mass-produced cars, the Mustang being the main contender. With only five examples estimated to have survived to today, the 1966 Gold Edition is one of the rarest editions ever released. Distinguished only by cosmetic changes, such as a unique Anniversary Edition Gold paint job and an upgraded interior, the Gold Edition was often promoted by giveaways and contests.

In basic terms, axle ratio is the drive shaft or output shaft revolutions needed to spin the axle one complete turn. Axle ratio can be used in reference to either the front or rear axles, depending on if the vehicle is front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, all-wheel drive, or four-wheel drive. Several factors are affected by the axle ratio of a vehicle including fuel economy, towing capacity, and top speed. More specifically, the ratio is the number of teeth on the axle’s ring gear in relation to the pinion gear on the driveshaft.

Featuring the 2007's V6 premium coupe as its base, the Mustang Heat Edition added a distinctive black stripe, hood scoop and rear wing as well as some special badging. Only an estimated 279 of the Head Edition package were produced. The Heat edition was an official Ford-sanctioned Mustang.

Although most beadlock wheels seen on the street only imitate the functional version, there are benefits to having beadlock wheels, especially in off-roading or racing applications. What are beadlock wheels, you ask? Great question! Beadlock wheels secure the bead of a tire to the wheel to lock it in place. While friction and air pressure typically keep the tire properly aligned with the wheel, beadlocks attach to the bead of the tire in order to prevent the bead from separating, basically “locking” the tire in place.

First seen in 1966 and available only from dealers in the Colorado area was the High Country Mustang. It was speculated that the High Country Mustang was created to rejuvenate interest in the Mustang in the Colorado region. This special Mustang lasted until 1968.

Ford first started celebrating the anniversary of the Ford Mustang in 1984, which was the Mustang's 20th anniversary. In addition to the commemoration, Ford had celebrated the anniversary of the Ford Mustang a few more times as well as having the Mustang participate in celebrating Ford's 100th anniversary.

The FR500 Mustang was a race-spec Mustang produced between 2005 and 2008. From the moment the 1999 prototype was shown, this Mustang caught the attention of enthusiasts. Not only was it an exciting vehicle, but you could also buy the parts for your own Mustang.

Making its debut at the 2006 SEMA show in Las Vegas was the Shelby Terlingua. The Terlingua Mustang takes its name from a mining town on the Texas-Mexico border. Carrol Shelby formed the Terlingua Racing Team to appeal to those outside of the mainstream racing audience.

Originally released in 1967 was the Mustang Stallion. The Stallion edition was designed to be an upscale version of the Mustang that could appeal to the more affluent market. In total, only eight Stallion Mustangs were produced. The Stallion was brought back for the second-generation Mustang but then not available after the 1976 model year.

The Mustang GT-R concept car unveiled in 2005 signaled Ford's return as a road-racing machine. The GT-R featured a 5.0, 440 horsepower Cammer crate V8 engine which could be further modified to produce an additional 100 horsepower. A special Mustang package known as the Sherrod was first introduced by Ford in 2008. Transfer cases for four-wheel-drive vehicles, including Jeep transfer cases, typically come with two different gear settings — high and low — for low-speed rock crawling and situations where more traction is needed. Connected the rear of the transmission, the transfer case directs power through the driveshafts to both ends of the vehicle.

Between 1983 and 1986, the Predator Mustang was manufactured and sold through select dealerships. The brainchild of Tom Solomon, the designer involved with the Shelby and Cobra Mustangs, the Predator Mustang is one of the rarest and most sought-after Fox Body Mustangs due to the limited production numbers.

The Sprint Edition Mustang was targeted towards female car buyers to help boost six-cylinder sales in the late 1960s. This edition Mustang was available in coupe, convertible and fastback with the option to select manual or automatic transmission.

Available on several Mustang between 1983 and 2010 was a five-speed manual transmission known as the T5. The T5 was an effort by Ford to give the Mustang better gas mileage and performance. The T5 was beginning to be phased out in 1995 and was replaced with the TR-3550.

The Roush Warrior Mustang is a special edition Mustang designed solely for US military stationed overseas. The 1992 Mustang Mach 3 came with a supercharged 4.6L V8 engine capable of producing 450 horsepower. The Mach 3 was the Mustang product development team's attempt to come up with a newly designed Mustang for the fourth generation.

For the 2011 model year, the DUB edition Mustang package was available as a special order from dealerships across the US. Upgrades included a Roush body kit, upgraded suspension and DUB logo embroidered on the front headrest.

Available only in Grabber Orange and featuring a black hood stripe and tornado decal, the Mustang Twister Special is highly sought after by collectors.
