1989 Mustang Parts
Although there weren’t too many revisions made for the 1989 Mustang, being the 25th anniversary, you know that Ford had to celebrate, at least in a small way. There wasn’t actually a 25th Anniversary Edition Mustang, though Ford’s creation of the 7-Up Edition Mustangs served as an unofficial commemoration variant.
To officially pay tribute, Ford put a small emblem on the dashboard for every Mustang built between March 27, 1989, and the end of the following model year.
Additionally, the mass air system that was introduced just for California the year prior was now available in all locations, on all models. The V8 models also got a 140 mph speedometer. This, combined with the mass air system and a tilting steering wheel, makes the V8 1989 Mustang a popular choice for enthusiasts today.
Other changes to the line-up included the introduction of the LX 5.0 Sport version and the addition of power windows to convertibles. Sales remained steady at 209,769, just a slight decrease 2,000 cars from the previous model year.
