2008 Mustang Parts
Many 2008 Ford Mustang parts needed to be changed with the addition of two new trims to the lineup. To start, the Shelby lineup expanded for 2008 with the addition of the Shelby GT500KR model. The 'KR' stands for 'King of the Road,' and commemorates the original Shelby GT500KR from the late 1960s. This model changes some 2008 Mustang parts under the hood to give the car much more power than a standard GT500. Several 08 Mustang parts were also changed to lighter counterparts to help shed weight and make the Shelby GT500KR even faster. Ford didn’t have many changes to make to the 2008 Mustang, but it did release two new special editions that were immediate crowd favorites.
The 2008 Mustang Bullitt was launched as a 40th-anniversary tribute to the famed movie car and was only available in Dark Highland Green or Black. The V8 engine made an additional 15 horsepower over the regular GT, for 315 hp total. The addition of both visual and performance upgrades made this an ultra-popular trim and the 5,600 units produced sold out very quickly!
Topping out the line-up was another 40th-anniversary celebration trim, the Mustang GT500KR. This car truly was the “King of the Road”; at 540 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, it was the most powerful Mustang that Ford had produced to date.
In terms of exterior color changes made in 2008, Satin Silver Metallic was swapped for Silver Metallic, Redfire Metallic gave way to Dark Candy Apple Red Metallic, and Tungsten Grey Metallic was replaced by Vapor Silver Metallic.
Other small additions for the 2008 model year included a new style of optional 18” wheels that could be had on the V6 Premium coupes and the new “V6 Warriors in Pink” package. The latter added pink trim visuals and a portion of each sale went to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. With only modest changes and worsening economic conditions, sales for the 2008 Mustang continued the downward trend, to 108,767 for the year.
