2015 Mustang Parts

When Ford debuted the sixth-generation 2015 Mustang, it was one of the most exciting launches of all time! Not only did the 2015 Ford Mustang mark the 50th anniversary of the famous pony car, but it also came with a bunch of new features that had muscle car enthusiasts drooling. The 2015 Mustang was completely redesigned from the previous generations, giving the pony car a fresh, new look with better specs to match.

For the 2015 Mustang, there were three different engine options available: a 3.7L V6, 2.3L Turbo I4, and 5.0L V8. While the 3.7L V6 engine produces 300 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2.3L turbocharged EcoBoost engine puts out 310 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque. Those numbers are nothing to sneeze at, but they aren’t quite as impressive as the 5.0L V8, which puts out a whopping 435 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque.

The 2015 Mustang came with a manual transmission or six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. A Premium Package was available for both the EcoBoost and the GT, which included four selectable drive modes for normal, sport, track, and snow/wet conditions. This was a completely new feature for the Ford Mustang, allowing drivers to custom tune the steering effort, stability control, and throttle response.

Included in the premium package were illuminated door-sill plates, an aluminum accent dash panel, aluminum foot pedals, dual zone climate control, ambient lighting, unique premium door-trim, and heated and cooled leather seats. Added technological features for the Premium Package included a nine-speaker sound system with an amplifier, as well as the SYNC MyFord Touch system with 8’’ LCD touchscreen that could be activated with voice commands, the customizable touchscreen, or buttons on the steering wheel.

2015 Mustang GT

2015 Mustang GT

The 2015 Ford Mustang GT is equipped with the insanely powerful 5.0L V8, which can go from 0-60 miles per hour in under five seconds. Coming in at 3,705 lbs., the GT is rated at 8.52lbs. per horsepower, which was an improvement over the previous generation. With the 2015 Ford Mustang GT topping out at 155 miles per hour, the pony car was engineered to compete with the 2013 Mustang Boss 302 that produces 444 horsepower. Ford got pretty close to those numbers with the 2015 Mustang GT. The V8 engine also received some tweaks and updates from Ford to make it better than ever. Upgrades included a bigger intake and exhaust valves, reworked intake and exhaust camshafts, sturdier valve springs, new cylinder head casting, light and more durable connecting rods, redesigned piston tops, and a rebalanced crankshaft that will enhance performance at higher RPMs.

Along with the 2015 Mustang GT Premium Package, there was also a GT Performance Package available for an additional $2,500 that came with a strut-tower brace, larger radiator, unique chassis tuning, upsized rear sway bar, heavy-duty front springs, oil pressure and vacuum gauge pack, K-brace, 15-inch rotors, and 19-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels. If that’s not exciting enough, the package also included a Torsen limited-slip differential, which gives the 2015 Mustang GT a 3.73:1 final drive ratio. A spoiler delete also comes with the GT Performance Package, which gives the muscle car a much sleeker, lower profile look. Of course, you can give your muscle car even more power with our wide selection of 2015 Mustang GT upgrades including superchargers, exhausts, and cold air intakes.

2015 Mustang GT Burnout

2015 Mustang EcoBoost

Even though the Mustang GT puts out a massive amount of horsepower and torque, the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost isn’t far behind! With the 2.3L direct-injected, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, the EcoBoost can go from 0-60 miles per hour in under six seconds. That may not be as fast as the GT, but it’s still pretty impressive. Not only is the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost fast, but it’s also fuel efficient, boasting 22 city and 31 highway miles per gallon for the manual transmission.

The EcoBoost engine was the first Ford engine to have a low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger, which maximizes miles per gallon while minimizing emissions. The shape of its intake manifold and the housing for the turbocharger were purposefully made to allow for maximum air intake and output. It works by having an exhaust manifold that divides the inner and outer pairs of cylinders into two intake passages to the turbo. By having the exhaust pulses cordoned off from the next cylinder in the firing order, there is less loss from mixing and much more force going to the actual turbine wheel. This allows the turbine to spin-up much quicker, effectively delivering torque when the driver needs it.

A Performance Package was also available for the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost, which included many of the same features as the GT Performance Package. The EcoBoost Performance Package gave the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost a 3.55:1 final drive ratio rather than the standard 3.15:1, as well as four-piston front calipers, thicker rotors, and heavy-duty front springs. Adding the Performance Package increased the top speed to 145 miles per hour versus 121 miles per hour on a standard 2015 Mustang EcoBoost. In addition to GT parts, CJ Pony Parts carries tons of 2015 Mustang EcoBoost parts and accessories, so you can customize your pony car!

2015 Mustang Performance Models

Ford also released a very limited number of 2015 Mustang performance models, the Shelby GT350 and GT350R. Ford only produced 100 units of the 2015 Mustang GT350 and 37 units of the GT350R. For those lucky enough to own a 2015 GT350 or GT350R, you are in possession of one of the most powerful Mustangs of all time! Both the GT350 and GT350R feature a 5.2L flat-plane-crank V8 engine that produces a massive 526 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque.

2015 Mustang Shelby GT350

This the first time that Ford applied a flat-plane crankshaft to an engine, which means that rather than the crank pins being at 90 degrees, they are at 180 degrees. With no turbocharger or supercharger, the 2015 Mustang GT350 represented Ford’s most powerful naturally aspirated engine at the time. The main difference between the GT350 and GT350R is the weight. Ford reduced as much weight as possible for the GT350R, removing the air condition, rear seat, trunk upholstery, cargo floor, spare tire, and more. That being said, the GT350R was not built for comfort, it was built to be fast. The great thing about the 2015 Mustang GT350 and GT350R is that they are street legal — but they truly excel on the track, which is where they belong.

2015 Mustang Convertible

For all premium models of the 2015 Mustang, a convertible option was available. The 2015 Mustang Convertible featured a ragtop that came equipped with a completely electric mechanism for opening and closing the top, replacing the electro-hydraulic system used in previous generations. Capable of raising the top in 9-12 seconds and lowering it in 7-10 seconds, the all-electric Webasto mechanism takes half the time as the former electro-hydraulic system. However, you will have to be traveling at speeds lower than three miles per hour in order to work the top, which means that if it starts pouring down rain while you are driving on the highway, you will still have to pull over in order to raise the top up.

An additional fourth bow and a 10mm layer of foam between the bows and outer layer are other improvements that were made for the 2015 Mustang Convertible. Not only does this create a smoother appearance when the top is up, but it also allows the top to fold down into a smaller space, expanding the trunk size to 11.4 cubic feet from the previous 9.6 cubic feet. CJ Pony Parts has a great selection of 2015 Mustang Convertible parts and accessories, in case you need a replacement part or want to make any modifications to your convertible.
